Stainless steel fabrication involves transforming raw stainless steel materials into finished products or components. Monster Builder has honed expertise in fabrication across grades 316, 410, 420 and 430 stainless steel. We employ specialized techniques and state-of-the-art equipment to achieve high dimensional accuracy, quality finishes, and cost-efficiency.
The grade of stainless steel is specified based on the priorities for appearance, strength, chemical or heat resistance, and budget. We source approved grades that best match project needs. For architectural features, Grade 316 is commonly used. In process equipment, higher alloys like Grade 410 or Grade 420 stainless steel may be selected.
As a premier stainless steel fabricator in Brisbane, we cut and machine stainless steel using abrasive chop saws, lasers, and automated machining centers. These methods do not contaminate or alter the properties of the stainless steel. They achieve high tolerance dimensions, especially for small or complex features. Laser or plasma cutting produces clean edges, minimal kerf loss and can work with stainless steel up to 25mm thick.
To shape stainless steel, we use press brakes, tube and pipe benders as well as rolling machines. Stainless steel is highly formable and suited to creating curved components or enclosure panels. Tube and pipe bending produce plumbing or structural elements. Rolling and press braking help achieve panels, shaped edges or cylinders.
Welding joins stainless steel components without deforming or fracturing the material. Welding methods include TIG welding which produces clean, visually appealing welds for architectural elements. For high-stress equipment, precision TIG welding is used. Laser welding creates narrow, deep welds, especially suited to joining tubes or pipes. We weld stainless steel grades 316, 410 and 430. Grade 420 stainless steel can be laser welded for some applications.
Finishing enhances the inherent properties and appearance of stainless steel. Mechanical or electro-polishing produces a bright, smooth finish. Passivation removes free iron and contaminants to improve corrosion resistance. Rolling or hammering creates decorative patterns for architectural features.
